It’s not easy to try to understand babies. This is even truer among babies with colic. Many babies have this condition. When colic strikes, you can reasonably expect a very frustrated parent. What really causes colic and how can parents help their babies who have it?

Colic in Babies

Babies who have colic cry excessively for a couple of hours a day. They may stop crying after one bout and may or may not resume in succeeding days. Colic usually develops some weeks after birth and may continue a little after a baby passes his third month. The condition can strike at any time of the day but in some cases, colic may seem worse near or in the evening.

The soaring rhetoric from presidential candidates has been about the concept of change - and the electorate is energized by the buzzword. But is the idea of change really so new? In 1944, the Republican governor of New York, Thomas E. Dewey, ran for President against three-term incumbent Franklin D. Roosevelt on the slogan “It’s time for a change.” Although not using the specific word, John F. Kennedy, in 1960, promised change with “Let’s get America moving again.” In the 1980’s, Ronald Reagan emphasized the importance and challenge of individual citizens initiating action, saying, “All great change in America begins at the dinner table.” In his 1989 farewell address, looking back on his years in office, Reagan said, “We meant to change a Nation, and instead we changed a world.” In 1992, one of Bill Clinton’s themes was “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow” and he used the word change 10 times in his nomination speech.

Bullying is not just about lunch money anymore.

When I was in school bullies were the mean kids on the blacktop. They were the ones waiting after school to beat up on another kid that was usually no match for their size and strength. But there was at least a “safe zone” from school bullies: Home.

Today, running home and shutting out the bullying happening at school isn’t an option because bullies are popping up on the internet faster than ever.
Last year my daughter experienced a bit of cyber bullying when a kid posted a bulletin online that asked all the kids in her school that viewed it to make her life “hell” and call her names when she was at school.
