Good communication can decrease or even prevent many behavior problems. The number one tip to remember is to treat your loved one as an adult. An individual with a disease, not a diseased individual. He has an entire history of life that stays with him throughout this journey. He will continue to have many of the same characteristics he had before. If he was laid back before, he may be more so now. If he had a high energy/anxiety, he may be really busy. Or, he may have a complete personality change.

You can find plenty of information about being pregnant and the stages of growth your baby goes through. Websites and books will tell you all about what to expect at the doctor’s office or about tests you may receive. No one seems to be able to provide some good advice for handling situations such as when friends, family members and sometimes even complete strangers start telling you what you should and shouldn’t do, or the activities you ‘have to’ avoid.

“Tis the season to be jolly” or is it? The holidays are supposed to be a joyous time of year, filled with hope for the future and optimism for humanity. With movies like “Miracle on 34th St,” “White Christmas,” and “A Christmas Story” beaming holiday cheer into our houses and memories of childhood dreams during this time of year, many people aren’t happy and feel more like Charlie Brown - “A Charlie Brown Christmas” (without the optimism) or George Bailey from “It’s A Wonderful Life” (without the happy ending).

Leslie is a 45 year old woman. She has a 20 year old son named Calvin. Calvin was a troubled young man. He has been in and out of trouble with the law all of his young life. Leslie cared for her son very much and longed for the day when he would turn his life around.

Leslie allowed Calvin to live with her to maintain some sense of family for the troubled youngster. She knew he was headed for trouble. All she could do was try and give him good advice when he listened. She soon started noticing things were missing around the house.
