As parents part of our concerns is to be able to pass values that we have learned in our lifetime to our children. But passing values and following them up in our child’s daily care is already possible. By simply staying by your child’s side during his or her homework making, you will be able to pass some important values or maybe even teach them to do it. There is no need for you to fret or worry. Children of all ages love to play, and the importance of learning through play is emphasised within the education system. Nursery and primary schools provide play equipment that encourages social skills and physical activity for children of all ages. Even secondary schools have taken to providing assault course style adventure areas for teenagers, commonly featuring scramble nets, climbing walls and zip lines. Whilst this is providing exercise for the kids at school, it is often the lack of physical activity at home that is blamed for the growing number of overweight children.

With news and research regarding the childhood obesity epidemic, many parents are concerned about their kids’ health, weight and eating habits.

Being overweight as a young child is very different than the same condition encountered as an adult. As many overweight adults will attest, the reaction to excess weight in childhood is extremely important.

In fact, the reaction kids receive may be the one factor that determines if they grow up to be overweight adults. This all-important reaction may come from parents, teachers, family members, role models, mentors and other key people in his/her life.

Christmas is a very exciting time of the year, especially for children. With the festive season approaching here are a few ideas of how to keep the kids entertained before the big day.

Anyone who has been around little ones during December will be familiar with the way they ask every day, when Santa will be visiting. It can be fun towards the end of November to get them to make their own advent calendar, so that they can see exactly how many days there are left. The easiest way to do this, which will save cutting small, awkward pieces of cardboard, is to make a super sized calendar.
